About Jeff/Testimonials

Boot/Ski Work

Jeff began working on ski equipment in 1987 after he discovered his ski boots were not performing they way he thought they should and could. He worked/ studied/ stalked numerous boot specialists around the country, in order to learn the trade.  Most notable was his apprenticeship with Paul Jankauskas, who at the time was one of the premier alignment specialists in the world.  Jeff also studied with Pat Morrissey, who pioneered much of what has become modern World Cup ski tuning technique.  Boot Fixation was founded in 1996.

Ski Racing/ Coaching

Jeff began teaching skiing in 1986 and taught for six seasons.  He attained his Level II (then called Associate Level) in his third season, but took up racing, boot work and ski work before going for his Level III.  Much of Jeff’s coaching has focused on using race techniques to improve free skiers.  Jeff continues his unique instruction style today.  When Jeff was racing, he specialized in GS and became a regional masters GS champion.  He began coaching in 1995, and ran the A-Basin masters spring racing program for ten seasons.  Much of this programs focus was on bringing racing skills to non racers.

Boot Developments

Jeff is currently developing a number of key boot technologies that will revolutionize ski boot performance – from race boots to rental boots and everything in between. Expect major improvements to grip, flex and fit to all ski boots that incorporate these upcoming designs, and much better options for customization.

Goals

Help develop better boot technologies
Eliminate alignment and fit issues for all skiers
Teach skiers how easy good ski technique can be
Bridge divisions between the race world and the free-skiing world
Make ski racing more accessible, exciting, safe and fun at all levels – and to make it easier to ski race and free ski in the same day.

Testimonials

I wanted to thank you for the bootwork.  It's the best money I've spent in a long time.  The boots are tremendously comfortable with great response, flex and symmetry.  I'm having a ball and with no bunion pain.

You did an amazing job on my boots!!  It was the first time in years that I could buckle my boots, ski all day, and not touch the buckles.  Best of all, for the first time ever, I finished the race year in first place in my division (with a commanding lead too).  Thank you for the time you spent to make sure I had a great fit - I love those boots.

Thank you again for recommending and fitting my new ski boots.  You predicted that these would become the best boots I have EVER skied and I can now say that you were correct.  That actually says something since I am currently skiing my 47th season and have had countless prior pairs.

In all my phone contacts and visits with you, I continue to be impressed by your professionalism and your obvious skills and experience.  You are the best and I wish you all the best.

This is a long-overdue email to let you know how fabulous the footbeds in my ski boots have been since day 1.  The day before I got them, I skied A-Basin and had quite a bit of pain in my quadriceps, my IT Band and of course my knee.  I skied the day after you put in the footbeds, and many days since then and have not felt ONE SINGLE PAIN in my right leg (other than normal fatigue of course) at any time on any of my many ski days.  And I ski hard, with the big boys J.  It truly is a miracle and you truly are a miracle worker.

“I can honestly say I’ve never had so much fun on skis!  I was a little skeptical about the process going in, but I’m definitely a convert!

In the past it seemed like I was always fighting to get centered over my skis, either forcing myself forward or constantly fighting to keep from getting thrown in the back seat.  For the first time, it seemed like I naturally found myself right over the sweet spot of my skis.  Wow, what a difference.  Just wanted to let you know you have another very satisfied customer out there.

Thanks,
~ Chris

It was great meeting you (and the other Geoff) yesterday.  Wanted to let you know that the adjustments you made to my boots have had an immediate and noticeable effect on my skiing.  I went to Keystone today and mostly skied trees due to epic conditions and epic numbers of spring-breakers on the trails.  However, I did hit some groomers and bump runs as well.  Here's the list of what changed:

1.  I've finally got a neutral stance!  Legs were noticeably less tired at the end of the day because I've finally got more than my quadriceps for support.

2.  Balance was much improved.  I really noticed that in the trees where I was able to stand tall (at least when I wasn't ducking branches) and keep my skis underneath me.  This gave me the confidence to ski lines tight enough that I had stuff caught on my goggles when I emerged :)

3.  Edge control was much better.  I was finally able to apply modern technique in hard snow.  Prior to canting, I had to counter and angulate like crazy to get my outside ski to grip in hard conditions.  Now it seems like I can really stand on that outside ski immediately when I lean into the turn.  Also, since I no longer need the aggressive countering and angulation, I feel like I'm able to generate fairly similar edge angles across both skis for a better two-footed carving experience.

4.  I'm finally long enough that I can extend!  I could definitely feel the leg extension when I was arcing turns.  At one point, I'd just laid my skis over for a couple of big arcs to stop and wait for my buddy.  He came skiing up and said "Dude, those turns were amazing--I've never seen you get so far over before."  I've certainly been that far over before (and he's seen it), but what he hadn't seen was a long outside leg.

5.  I really noticed the extra leg extension in the bumps.  I think I may have been bottoming out a bit before because I couldn't stand tall enough.  Anyway, today I was able to flow through the bumps even better than before.
